Uptime Tier IV (design)

NTT's strategy in Hong Kong centers on the financial sector, and FDC2 is its flagship execution: the second tower of the purpose-built Financial Data Center campus at Chun Kwong Street in Tseung Kwan O, opened in December 2015. The tower adds 30 MW of critical IT load and completes a complex of more than 7,000 racks spread across two independent data center towers plus a dedicated command-and-control tower. Designed to comply with Uptime Institute Tier IV requirements, FDC2 pairs fault-tolerant power with power densities of up to 24 kVA per rack — unusually high for its generation — along with ultra-tall rack options and energy-efficient cooling and data-visualization technologies. Tseung Kwan O places the campus near cable landing stations and the territory's main exchange and banking infrastructure, and NTT layers its own global network services on top of the colocation offering. The facility targets banks, exchanges, trading platforms and enterprises that need Tier IV-grade resilience and dense compute in Hong Kong, with campus scale available for larger multi-rack deployments.
