Telehouse's Tama campus, about 30 km west of central Tokyo in Tama City, was conceived as a disaster-resilient counterweight to the operator's downtown sites, and Tama 3 is its high-density flagship. Launched in February 2016, the building offers 1,300 racks of tenancy space within a campus totalling around 4,300 racks and 40 MW. Racks draw 21 kVA on average and can be configured up to 42 kVA, unusually high for its generation of Japanese colocation, supported by N+2 CRAC cooling with air-cooled module chillers and an operating PUE of 1.31. Power resilience runs to dual 66 kV utility lines, N+1 UPS and N+1 generators carrying 48 hours of fuel. The hybrid earthquake-proof structure is designed against long-period ground motion, and the facility is certified to JDCC Tier 4 level under Japan's data center council scheme alongside ISO 27001. Cage colocation scales to 900 square meters of dedicated private space, suiting enterprises consolidating high-density deployments, KDDI-linked network operators, and customers wanting seismic and power redundancy outside the city center.
