India's largest Tier IV-focused operator chose Chonburi for its first venture outside the home market: CtrlS Datacenters has signed a 50-year lease on a 10-acre (25-rai) parcel in Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor digital zone (EECd) to develop a greenfield hyperscale campus planned at 150 MW. Thailand's Board of Investment has approved the project with an investment of 5.04 billion baht for the initial development. The site selection emphasizes resilience and connectivity: elevation above 40 m mean sea level keeps it clear of flood-prone areas, and it sits near cable landing stations for the AAG system and the newer ADC subsea cable. A memorandum with National Telecom (NT) frames a broader collaboration spanning colocation, cable landing station access, terrestrial connectivity and cloud services. Announced with AI-ready intent, the campus targets hyperscalers and regional enterprises as Thailand emerges as Southeast Asia's next data centre growth market after Malaysia. Construction milestones and certifications are still to come.
