Two hundred megawatts in the first phase alone — that is the scale maincubes is planning for mainHub Berlin, a campus of up to six data centres in Nauen, west of Berlin, with expansion potential beyond 400 MW. The project cleared a decisive milestone when its zoning plan became legally binding on 2 July 2025, and a grid connection agreement signed with utility E.DIS guarantees power from 2027, delivered through a dedicated 110 kV substation being built on-site. The first facility, designated BER02, is at an advanced planning stage and complements the operator's existing BER01 building in the capital. The concept leans on regional wind and solar generation and on waste-heat integration with local heating networks serving nearby residential and commercial areas. maincubes frames the campus as a digital hub for Eastern and Central European markets, built for compute-intensive AI and cloud workloads that outgrow inner-Berlin power availability.
