Digital Realty MRS3

Few data centers occupy a shell like this one: MRS3 is built inside Martha, a World War II submarine base at the Port of Marseille with reinforced-concrete terracing up to 5.5 metres thick, 250 metres long and ringed by a 12-metre wall. Interxion (now Digital Realty) opened the first phase, around 2,300 sqm, in July 2020 and delivered the remaining two phases to reach roughly 7,100 sqm of equipped IT space and 16.5 MW. The draw is connectivity rather than sheer size - the Marseille campus lands access to 14 major subsea cable systems linking Europe with Africa, the Middle East and Asia, making MRS3 a natural home for carriers, content platforms and enterprises hauling traffic across the Mediterranean. The facility runs on 100 percent renewable energy with N+1 UPS and cooling redundancy, and holds ISO 27001, 22301, 14001, 45001 and 50001 certifications along with PCI DSS, SOC 2 and the French HDS standard.
