Equinix TY12x

TY12x marked Equinix's entry into hyperscale wholesale in Asia: opened in March 2021 in Inzai, Chiba, it was the first xScale data center in the region, developed through the operator's joint venture with Singapore's sovereign investor GIC. The facility spans roughly 17,300 square meters and is engineered to deliver 54 MW of IT capacity once all phases are complete; an anchor hyperscale tenant took the entire first phase and a significant share of the second before opening. Unlike Equinix's retail IBX sites in central Tokyo, TY12x is built for large single-tenant deployments such as cloud availability zones and AI infrastructure, while retaining direct interconnection back to the Equinix Tokyo campus and its ecosystem of networks and clouds, a differentiator against standalone wholesale operators. Inzai's stable geology and established power and fiber infrastructure have made the area Greater Tokyo's principal hyperscale cluster. The site carries Equinix's standard compliance portfolio, including ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 22301, PCI DSS and SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type 2 attestations.
