UAE Central is Microsoft's Azure cloud region in Abu Dhabi, one of the first two Microsoft cloud regions in the Middle East when it went live in June 2019 alongside UAE North in Dubai. Unlike a colocation facility, it is a hyperscale cloud region: capacity is consumed as Azure and Microsoft 365 services rather than racks, with in-country hosting that addresses UAE data-residency expectations for government and regulated industries. Within Microsoft's region architecture, UAE Central plays a specific role — it is paired with UAE North, does not offer availability zones, and access is generally reserved for customers of UAE North that need in-country disaster recovery, so it functions primarily as the DR half of the national pair. Microsoft does not publish power, space or rack figures for the underlying data centers. The region suits organizations standardized on Azure that require both primary and failover footprints kept inside the Emirates.
