Interconnection density is the reason AMS9 matters. Housed at Science Park 121 in eastern Amsterdam — the same campus that anchors much of the Dutch internet — this Digital Realty facility gives customers cross-connect access to more than 170 carriers and ISPs and hosts four internet exchanges on site: AMS-IX, NL-ix, NDIX and NetherLight. Over 120 companies are already deployed in its roughly 2,600 sqm of space, and pre-configured links tie the building into nine other Digital Realty data centers across the metro. Electrically the site runs 2N UPS redundancy with N+1 cooling, and it operates on 100% renewable power with CarbonNeutral certification. Compliance coverage spans ISO 27001, ISO 50001, ISO 22301, SOC 1, SOC 2 and PCI-DSS, with 24x7 staffing and biometric access control. AMS9 is not a hyperscale hall — capacity figures are not published — but for networks, content platforms and enterprises whose priority is peering and low-latency reach across Europe, it is one of Amsterdam's core meet-me points.
