With more than 300 MW of planned capacity, TOK1 is Japan's largest hyperscale data center campus by power. AirTrunk opened the first phase in November 2021 after a 45-week build in Inzai, Chiba Prefecture, the cluster east of Tokyo favored by cloud operators for its stable bedrock and dense fiber routes. The 13.25-hectare site will ultimately hold seven buildings containing 102 data halls and roughly 80,000 square meters of technical space, supplemented by 9,600 square meters of office and storage area. Power arrives via dedicated onsite 66 kV substations, and the campus is engineered to a design PUE of 1.15, with provision for about 4,000 square meters of rooftop solar panels generating close to one million kWh annually. Capacity is delivered in large contiguous blocks aimed squarely at hyperscale cloud and AI platforms rather than retail colocation, though the campus remains carrier neutral with multiple diverse network entry paths and availability backed by service-level guarantees. TOK1 anchors AirTrunk's Japan platform, which has since grown to additional campuses in the Tokyo and Osaka regions.
