AirTrunk's entry into Malaysia opened on 30 July 2024 in Johor Bahru, only 18 months after the project was first announced. JHB1 is a flagship hyperscale campus of more than 150 MW on a 10.3-hectare site, offering 21,900 sqm of space across 20 data halls at full build-out; initial phases delivered over 50 MW to anchor technology customers. The facility services a major cloud availability zone and is wired for both domestic connectivity and international routes into neighbouring Singapore, letting hyperscalers extend Singapore-adjacent capacity without that market's power constraints. JHB1 was the springboard for a much larger commitment: with the subsequent JHB2, JHB3 and JHB4 campuses, AirTrunk's planned IT load in Malaysia exceeds 700 MW, backed by roughly MYR 27 billion (about US$6.8 billion) of committed investment. As a wholesale hyperscale build, it targets global cloud and large technology platforms rather than retail colocation buyers.
