NTT Global Data Centers is extending its Kansai footprint with OSK12, a planned two-building campus in Ibaraki City, roughly 20 km north of central Osaka. The site is designed for 36 MW of total IT load, with an 18 MW first building targeted for completion in early 2028 offering about 5,000 square meters of server room space in a three-storey, seismically isolated structure. The design anticipates the shift toward accelerated computing: white space is engineered for high-density racks with support for direct liquid cooling alongside conventional air systems, positioning the campus for AI training and inference clusters as well as cloud platforms. Ibaraki sits in a comparatively low disaster-risk zone, and NTT positions the campus both as primary Kansai capacity and as a recovery location for workloads concentrated in Greater Tokyo. Engineering follows Tier III-equivalent redundancy principles with concurrently maintainable power and cooling systems. For hyperscalers and enterprises seeking AI-ready capacity in Japan's second-largest data center market, OSK12 stands among the Kansai region's most significant pipeline projects.
