Viettel opened its Hoa Lac facility in April 2024 as the largest data center in Vietnam: more than 2,400 racks and around 60,000 servers across 21,000 sqm of floor space, with 30 MW of total power. The military-run telecom group designed the site at roughly double the average rack density of Vietnamese data centers, explicitly so it can host high-performance chips and AI workloads. Efficiency figures are unusually strong for the market — the chillers achieve a coefficient of performance above 6.0, some 40 percent better than the national industry standard, and PUE runs at 1.4 to 1.45, about 12 percent lower than existing Vietnamese facilities. It is also the first data center in Vietnam to source 30 percent of its electricity from renewable energy, anchoring Viettel's green-infrastructure positioning. The Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park location places it in Hanoi's emerging data center cluster alongside VNPT's flagship site. Viettel's company-wide roadmap calls for expanding to 17,000 racks in 2025 and 34,000 racks by 2030, serving cloud, enterprise and AI customers.
