Switch The Citadel Campus (TAHOE RENO 1)

Few colocation projects match the stated ambition of Switch's Citadel Campus: 2,000 acres in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center, master-planned for up to 17.4 million square feet of data center space and 850 MW of power. The first building, TAHOE RENO 1, opened in 2017 with up to 1.3 million square feet and 130 MW, built to the Tier IV Gold design standards Switch established in Las Vegas and supporting cabinet densities up to 42 kW. The campus sits next to the Tesla Gigafactory and runs entirely on renewable energy, with Switch holding the only 100 percent Clean Energy Index score in Greenpeace's industry ranking at the time of opening. Connectivity runs over the Switch SUPERLOOP, a roughly 500-mile fiber system that puts Silicon Valley about 4 milliseconds away, Las Vegas 7 and Los Angeles 9, combining Nevada's power economics of around 4.9 cents per kWh with near-Bay Area latency. The Citadel targets hyperscale, AI and enterprise customers deploying at campus scale.
