YTL's Kulai development takes a different route from Johor's other hyperscale parks: it pairs a planned 500 MW of data centre capacity with its own 500 MW solar plant, marketed as Malaysia's first integrated data centre park powered by renewable solar energy, with grid backup from the national utility. Located in the Iskandar region roughly 30 km from Singapore, the park launched with an RM 1.5 billion first phase after Sea Limited (Shopee's parent) signed as anchor tenant, taking 32 MW of the initial capacity; the first 72 MW facility was targeted for operation in early 2024. The site has since become the home of YTL AI Cloud, with a first 20 MW facility built around liquid-cooled NVIDIA GB200 GPU supercomputers completed as part of a multi-billion-dollar collaboration with NVIDIA, and GDS is also developing on the campus. Dark fibre into Singapore provides low-latency reach for tenants. The park courts hyperscalers, AI platforms and companies with renewable-energy mandates seeking green capacity at Johor scale.
