Granted full planning approval on 22 February 2024, Global Switch's third London data centre will add 27,000 sqm of technical space across five floors and 40MW of IT power to the company's Docklands campus, completing an estate of 115,000 sqm fed by a 126MVA utility supply. The design leans firmly toward next-generation workloads: standard power density of 3,000W per sqm rising above 5,000W per sqm with liquid cooling, support for both air- and liquid-cooled deployments, and OCP-compliant halls suited to HPC and AI clusters. Resilience features include dual building entry points and two additional Meet Me Rooms. Sustainability commitments are specific — a targeted BREEAM Excellent rating, design PUE under 1.2, 100% renewable electricity, HVO fossil-free fuel for backup generators cutting their CO2 by up to 90%, and the capability to export waste heat to the local community. Less than a mile from Canary Wharf, the building is aimed at operators who want AI-grade density inside London rather than on the outskirts.
