Energy infrastructure is the defining feature of DUB20, the campus Echelon Data Centres is building on the former Irish Fertiliser Industries site at Avoca River Business Park in Arklow, Co. Wicklow. Branded as Ireland's first Green Energy Park, the development pairs the data centre with a joint 220kV substation built with SSE Renewables that will give the site access to up to 800MW of offshore wind from the Arklow Bank Wind Park, alongside on-site solar PV rated to generate over 6,000MWh a year, battery storage and HVO-fuelled backup. The campus was designed for a 90MW IT load, with a planning application lodged to expand this to 204MW, and forms part of a 4.2 billion euro investment across Echelon's Wicklow projects. Two on-site energy centres allow DUB20 to manage its own supply and export power back to the national grid at peak demand. Construction is due to complete by 2028, targeting hyperscale and large-footprint tenants seeking capacity outside the constrained Dublin metro grid.
